Do you ever hear about Sutherland Shire Council advocating for residents? Do you ever meet your local Councillor? Or do you have to find them when you have a problem? That’s not how it’ll be with the Passmore Independents. We genuinely care about our community — way more than personal gain, political parties, or independent alliances.
With a mix of different experiences and skills, the Passmore Independents give you a real choice. We are all D Ward residents, with more than 100 years lived experience in The Shire. Want the same old thing? Or something better?
Currently, our Council is dominated by 8 Liberal and 5 Labor Party members. But local government should be about representing community, not playing politics. We also need Councillors who are transparent about their local business interests. Are Councillors for the community or themselves?
Too often, Councillors focus on flashy projects for their own photo ops, while neglecting important stuff like stormwater management, street cleaning, maintaining and repairing community assets, protecting the environment and making sure everything’s accessible. These things matter. There is a pattern of projects that are not ‘glamourous’, slipping from year to year, whilst the money is always found to complete the big flashy park upgrade. Planning and designing does not equal delivery.
Listening? With more than 40 separate “Have your Say” surveys since July 23, our Council is just ticking a boxes. Remember the “Overland Flood Study”?
We need to put People before Politics, and the Passmore Independents will do this.
